UN Security Council meets on AI the day after Trump's announcement
France, which holds the Council presidency this month, convened a high-level session on artificial intelligence and international security. The briefers include Yoshua Bengio, co-chair of the UN's independent scientific panel on AI, alongside the heads of OpenAI, Anthropic and Hugging Face. The stated focus is the risk of losing control of the most advanced systems, which is close to the opposite of the message Trump gave the General Assembly the day before.

The name Trump announced was not the one that won his own poll
On September 19 Trump posted a poll on Truth Social with three options: "Superior Intelligence," "Extreme Intelligence" and "Supreme Intelligence." More than 64,000 people voted and the first won with 41%, against 38% and 21%. Three days later he announced a fourth name to the UN, "super intelligence," which had never been on the ballot.
